Description

This is a Grade 1 washed processed coffee from the Wenago woreda (district) of the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia. And so much of the magic of this coffee begins there, in Yirgacheffe — one of the most distinguished coffee regions in Ethiopia, and the world, for that matter.

Yirgacheffe (which can be spelled differently at times because there is no agreed upon direct transliteration of the Amharic language of Ethiopia into Roman characters) is one of three regions (along with Harrar and Sidamo) which the Ethiopian government trademarked and branded more than a decade ago to promote broader recognition of the distinctive coffees from this area. The Yirgacheffe coffees are noted for their almost explosive aroma, dramatic floral and fruit notes, and an elegant body that one might often more closely associate with teas.

This unique flavor profile is typically achieved through traditional natural/dry process methods, but this washed coffee brews a cleaner cup while preserving some of those same distinct characteristics.
