Description

This top Kenya coffee comes from a coop in Nyeri County, one of the oldest and most established coffee regions in the world. Situated in the central highlands, Nyeri's fertile coffee growing terroir is nestled between the Great Rift Valley to the west, and the shadow of Mt. Kenya to the east. So many of the amazing Kenya coffees we've carried have come from this "neighborhood."

The altitude is quite high, ranging from 1,600 to 2,200 meters, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 30 degrees Celsius. Annual rainfall ranges between 30 and 38 inches. The soil is a well drained, deep volcanic loam. And all this makes for some truly exceptional lots.

Competition to produce top shelf Kenyas in this region is serious business, as some of the highest-scoring producers in the world hail from this region. Since Kenya is often touted as the best coffee origin, you could say coffees from this area represent some of the "best of the best."

Nyeri County coffee "factories" deliver remarkable quality year after year...after year. This selection is no exception. The dry fragrance and aroma entice with chocolate cherry. The cup is classic Kenya with tangy acidity that highlights a mix of berry and citrus. It leaves a long, sweet finish on the tongue that's clean and round. Simply wonderful.
