Description

Matas de Minas is an association of specialty coffee producers spanning 64 municipalities across a sliver of the eastern state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The association, founded by Alexandre Emerich, now represents more than 36,000 growers across 275,000 hectares of land and directly and indirectly employs over 200,000 people.

This coffee is from a Single Estate within Matas de Minas, and utilizes a semi-washed process. Semi-washed (also known as pulped natural process) is a popular processing technique in Brazil, where coffee cherries are wet-pulped and then laid to sun dry with the cherry's mucilage still intact.
